Terms of Use

Welcome to Core Behaviour. These Terms of Use & Research Participation Agreement (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Core Behaviour’s websites, research platforms, respondent panels, surveys, interviews, focus groups, studies, and other research-related services.

For purposes of these Terms, Core Behaviour and, where applicable, its relevant affiliates, research partners, service providers, and clients involved in delivering a research project.

By accessing our website, creating a participant account, joining a research panel, responding to a research invitation, or taking part in any study conducted or facilitated by Core Behaviour, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms.

If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use our research platforms or participate in our studies.

1. About Core Behaviour

Core Behaviour is a market research and insights organisation that helps businesses and organisations understand people, markets, behaviours, experiences, brands, products, and opportunities.

Our research activities may include, among other things:

  • Online surveys and quantitative studies;
  • Interviews and in-depth discussions;
  • Focus groups and group discussions;
  • Concept, proposition, product, and service testing;
  • Customer, employee, UX, and digital experience research;
  • Brand, communications, and reputation research;
  • Market understanding and segmentation studies;
  • Audience and behavioural research;
  • Business and B2B research;
  • Qualitative and observational research;
  • Research conducted for clients, partners, or research organisations; and
  • Other current or future forms of market or social research.

The particular activities available to you will depend on the requirements of each research project.

2. Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms apply whenever you:

  • Visit or use our website or research platforms;
  • Register for or maintain a participant account;
  • Respond to an invitation to participate in research;
  • Complete a survey or other research activity;
  • Provide information for participant profiling or screening; or
  • Otherwise interact with Core Behaviour in connection with research services.

Some research projects may have additional instructions, consent forms, confidentiality requirements, or project-specific terms. Where such requirements are provided to you, they form part of your agreement for that particular study.

If a project-specific requirement conflicts with these Terms, the project-specific requirement will apply to the extent of that conflict.

3. Participant Eligibility

Participation requirements may vary from one research project to another.

You must meet the eligibility requirements communicated for the relevant study. These requirements may relate to age, location, profession, experience, purchasing behaviour, product usage, industry, or other research criteria.

You agree to provide accurate information about yourself when answering screening questions, creating a participant profile, or participating in research.

Where a study involves individuals below the applicable age of consent, participation will only take place where the required parental or guardian permission and other legally required safeguards have been obtained.

Core Behaviour may request reasonable information or documentation to confirm eligibility where necessary for research integrity, legal compliance, payment processing, or fraud prevention.

4. Participant Accounts

Where Core Behaviour provides an account or panel profile:

  • You may maintain only the number of accounts expressly permitted by Core Behaviour.
  • Your account must contain truthful, current, and complete information.
  • You must not create an account using another person's identity or information.
  • You must keep your login credentials confidential.
  • You are responsible for activity carried out through your account.
  • You must notify Core Behaviour if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
  • You may not sell, transfer, lend, or otherwise provide your participant account to another person.
  • We may restrict, suspend, or close an account where we reasonably believe that the account has been misused or that these Terms have been breached.

5. Research Invitations and Screening

Receiving an invitation to a study does not guarantee that you will qualify for or complete that study.

Research projects may use screening questions, quotas, demographic requirements, behavioural criteria, quality checks, or other selection procedures. You may be screened out before or during a study if you do not meet the requirements.

A participant may also be prevented from continuing where the required sample has been reached or where the research methodology requires the participant's responses to fall within particular criteria.

6. Honest and Accurate Participation

Research depends on reliable information. You therefore agree to:

  • Answer questions honestly and to the best of your knowledge;
  • Provide information that relates to you personally;
  • Read and follow study instructions;
  • Give thoughtful and genuine responses;
  • Complete research activities without intentionally attempting to manipulate results;
  • Avoid submitting duplicate responses;
  • Complete activities within any specified time or procedural requirements; and
  • Tell us when information requested by a study does not apply to you rather than intentionally providing misleading information.

You must not deliberately provide fabricated answers, use another person's identity, misrepresent your qualifications or experiences, or otherwise interfere with the integrity of research.

7. Research Quality and Validation

Core Behaviour may use reasonable research-quality measures to protect the integrity of its studies and datasets.

These measures may include response consistency checks, duplicate detection, attention or engagement checks, eligibility verification, technical checks, fraud detection, statistical review, and other validation procedures appropriate to the study.

If responses are found to be unreliable, duplicated, materially inconsistent, automated, fabricated, or otherwise unsuitable for the relevant research, Core Behaviour may exclude those responses from the study and, where appropriate, restrict future participation.

We may also review participant activity across studies where reasonably necessary to protect research quality and prevent misuse.

8. Prohibited Participation Practices

You must not:

  • Complete the same research activity more than once unless expressly permitted;
  • Use automated systems, bots, scripts, scraping tools, or similar technology to participate in research;
  • Attempt to bypass screening or eligibility controls;
  • Manipulate, distort, or intentionally influence research results;
  • Submit responses generated by another person as your own;
  • Use another participant's account;
  • Misrepresent your identity, location, profession, experience, or other eligibility information;
  • Attempt to obtain incentives through dishonest or deceptive activity;
  • Interfere with the operation or security of our website or research platforms;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts, systems, research materials, or other data;
  • Harvest or collect personal information about other participants;
  • Upload malicious software or harmful code;
  • Circumvent technical or security measures; or
  • Engage in conduct that violates applicable law.

9. Confidentiality of Research Materials

Research materials may include information belonging to Core Behaviour, its clients, research partners, suppliers, or other third parties.

Such materials may include:

  • Unreleased products or concepts;
  • Advertising or marketing materials;
  • Product designs or prototypes;
  • Business information;
  • Research questionnaires;
  • Discussion guides;
  • Images, videos, audio, or other media;
  • Research findings or preliminary results;
  • Confidential client information; and
  • Other non-public information provided during a study.

Unless Core Behaviour or the relevant study expressly permits otherwise, you must keep such information confidential and must not disclose, publish, copy, record, photograph, reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit it.

You must not use confidential research information for any purpose other than participating in the relevant research.

10. Recording of Research Activities

Certain studies may involve audio, video, screen, image, or other forms of recording.

Where recording is required, you will be informed through the relevant study materials or consent process, and any applicable permissions will be obtained in accordance with the requirements of the study and applicable law.

Recorded materials may be used for legitimate research purposes, including analysis, transcription, quality assurance, reporting, and delivery of research services, subject to the applicable privacy notice and study-specific disclosures.

11. Research Responses and Intellectual Property

Your responses and contributions may form part of research data, analysis, reports, or other research outputs.

Unless otherwise stated in the relevant study, Core Behaviour may use research responses for legitimate research purposes, including analysis, aggregation, reporting, quality control, and delivery of research services to clients.

Research outputs will be handled in accordance with the applicable privacy terms and the commitments made to participants.

You retain any rights that cannot lawfully be transferred or licensed under applicable law. Nothing in these Terms is intended to remove rights that cannot legally be waived.

12. Website and Platform Content

Our websites, research platforms, interfaces, text, graphics, logos, designs, software, documentation, research materials, and other content are owned by or licensed to Core Behaviour or its relevant partners and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Except where expressly permitted, you may not:

  • Copy or reproduce protected materials;
  • Modify or create derivative works;
  • Republish research materials;
  • Distribute or commercially exploit platform content;
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code;
  • Remove proprietary notices; or
  • Use Core Behaviour's branding or materials in a manner that suggests an unauthorised relationship.

13. Participant Incentives and Payments

Where a particular research project offers an incentive, the invitation or study information will explain the applicable incentive and any conditions attached to it.

Incentives may vary depending on the nature, length, methodology, eligibility requirements, and successful completion of a study.

Unless expressly stated otherwise:

  • An invitation does not itself create a right to receive an incentive;
  • Participants must satisfy the applicable study requirements;
  • Incentives may be withheld where participation is invalidated because of fraud, duplication, materially inaccurate information, or other serious quality concerns;
  • Payment may be subject to reasonable verification requirements; and
  • Processing times may vary depending on the incentive method and project.

Where an incentive is provided by a third-party payment provider, gift-card provider, platform, or other external service, its additional terms may also apply.

14. Taxes and Legal Obligations

Participants are responsible for understanding and complying with any tax, reporting, or other legal obligations that may apply to incentives or other amounts received from Core Behaviour.

Where required by applicable law, Core Behaviour may request information or take steps necessary for tax, accounting, identity, or regulatory compliance.

15. Privacy and Personal Information

Core Behaviour takes participant privacy seriously.

Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms an important part of your relationship with us.

Our privacy practices may address matters such as:

  • Information collected during registration and research participation;
  • Survey and research responses;
  • Technical and device information;
  • Research screening and profiling;
  • Use of information for research and quality-control purposes;
  • Sharing with clients, suppliers, research partners, or service providers where appropriate;
  • Data security;
  • Retention and deletion;
  • Participant rights; and
  • Methods for contacting Core Behaviour regarding privacy matters.

Please review our current Privacy Policy before participating in research.

16. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our websites and platforms may use cookies and similar technologies for functionality, security, analytics, preferences, and other legitimate purposes.

Information about our use of these technologies is available in our Cookie Policy.

17. Third-Party Services and Links

Our website, research invitations, or research activities may contain links to third-party websites, applications, payment services, or other platforms.

Third-party services may operate under their own terms and privacy policies. Core Behaviour does not control all third-party services and is not responsible for their independent practices, content, availability, or policies.

You should review the applicable terms before using a third-party service.

18. Website and Service Availability

We aim to maintain reliable research platforms and services, but we do not guarantee that our websites, surveys, applications, or other services will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or free from errors.

Access may occasionally be affected by maintenance, technical problems, telecommunications failures, third-party services, security incidents, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

We may modify, suspend, discontinue, or restrict any part of our services where reasonably necessary.

19. Account Suspension and Termination

Core Behaviour may suspend or terminate access to a participant account or research opportunity where reasonably necessary, including where:

  • These Terms have been breached;
  • Information provided by a participant appears materially inaccurate or misleading;
  • Research-quality concerns are identified;
  • Fraud or abuse is suspected;
  • Security risks are identified;
  • The account appears to be duplicated or improperly used;
  • Participation is no longer compatible with a study or panel requirement; or
  • We are required to do so by law or for legitimate operational reasons.

Where appropriate and legally permissible, we may provide notice or an opportunity to address an issue. However, immediate restriction may be necessary where there is a significant risk to research integrity, security, privacy, or other participants.

Termination does not affect provisions that are intended to survive termination, including confidentiality, intellectual property, limitations of liability, and dispute-related provisions.

20. Participant Withdrawal

You may stop participating in a particular study at any time, subject to any study-specific instructions.

If you wish to stop participating in a panel or close an account, you may contact Core Behaviour through the contact information provided on our website.

Withdrawal from a study does not necessarily require Core Behaviour to delete information that it is legally entitled or required to retain, or information that has already been incorporated into appropriately processed research outputs, subject always to applicable privacy law and our Privacy Policy.

21. Research Results and Client Decisions

Research is intended to provide evidence and insight for decision-making. Research findings are not guarantees of commercial performance, consumer behaviour, market outcomes, or business success.

Core Behaviour does not guarantee that research findings will produce a particular business result.

Clients and other recipients of research outputs are responsible for decisions they make based on research findings.

22. Disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Core Behaviour provides its websites and services on an “as available” basis.

We do not guarantee that:

  • Every research invitation will be available to you;
  • You will qualify for a particular study;
  • A study will remain open for a particular period;
  • Any particular incentive will always be available;
  • The website or research platform will be error-free or continuously available; or
  • Research findings will achieve a particular commercial, operational, or strategic outcome.

Nothing in these Terms excludes any warranty, right, or protection that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.

23. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Core Behaviour and its directors, employees, representatives, affiliates, contractors, service providers, and research partners will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive losses arising from your use of our website, participation in research, or inability to access our services.

This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded under applicable law, including liability arising from fraud, wilful misconduct, or other matters where exclusion is prohibited.

Where applicable law permits limitation of liability, Core Behaviour's aggregate liability will be limited to the amount permitted by law and, where relevant, the amount of incentives actually paid to the participant in connection with the specific research activity giving rise to the claim.

24. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to be responsible for losses, claims, damages, liabilities, and reasonable costs arising directly from your unlawful conduct, intentional misuse of our services, fraud, or material violation of these Terms.

Nothing in this provision requires you to indemnify Core Behaviour for matters caused by Core Behaviour's own unlawful conduct or liability that cannot legally be transferred to you.

25. Compliance With Law

You must use our websites, platforms, and research services in compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to you.

Core Behaviour may cooperate with lawful requests from courts, regulators, law-enforcement authorities, or other authorised bodies where required or permitted by law.

26. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to our services, research practices, technology, legal requirements, or business operations.

When changes are made, we may publish the revised Terms on our website and update the “Last Updated” date.

Where legally required, we will provide additional notice or obtain any required consent.

Your continued use of the relevant services after an updated version becomes effective may constitute acceptance of the revised Terms to the extent permitted by law.

27. Governing Law

These Terms shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws applicable to the Core Behaviour entity providing the relevant service, subject to any mandatory rights or protections available to you under the laws that apply to your location.

Any dispute-resolution mechanism included in a particular research agreement, participant consent form, or client engagement may apply to that specific matter where legally valid.

28. Dispute Resolution

Before commencing formal proceedings, you and Core Behaviour are encouraged to attempt to resolve any dispute through good-faith communication.

Questions, complaints, or concerns regarding participation should initially be directed to Core Behaviour using the contact details published on our website.

Nothing in these Terms prevents a participant from exercising a statutory right, filing a complaint with a competent regulator, or seeking a remedy that cannot legally be excluded.

29. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, invalid, or unenforceable, that provision will be interpreted or modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable where legally possible.

The remaining provisions will continue in effect.

30. No Waiver

A failure or delay by Core Behaviour to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of its right to enforce that provision later.

31. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, study-specific consent notices, instructions, and any additional terms expressly provided for a particular service, constitute the applicable agreement governing your use of the relevant Core Behaviour services.
